Chapter 10 - The Legacy of Love

Midnight had fallen over the estate.
The guests had departed, the music had faded into the quiet hum of the night, and the mansion slept peacefully under a clear, star-filled sky.
I stood on the second-floor balcony overlooking the garden, holding a warm mug of tea.
The cool night air brushed against my face, carrying the sweet fragrance of night-blooming jasmine and blooming roses.
A pair of soft arms wrapped around my waist from behind. Sophia pressed her cheek against my back, holding me tightly.
“Is everything quiet, boss?” she teased softly, using Victor’s old title with a light, warm chuckle.
I turned in her arms, wrapping my coat around her shoulders to shield her from the chill.
“Everything is quiet,” I smiled, kissing the top of her head. “The perimeter is clear. The house is safe.”
We looked out over the lawn, where the old oak tree stood tall against the moonlight.
Below, near the garden path, sat a tiny wooden drawing easel that Emma had left behind for the morning, its clean white paper waiting for a new story to be painted.
I looked at the ring on Sophia’s finger, glowing soft and white in the moonlight.
For twenty years, I had believed that power was built on fear, that loyalty was bought with money, and that survival required living behind steel walls and loaded weapons.
But tonight, standing beside the woman I loved, in a house filled with peace, I finally understood the truth.
The greatest power on earth wasn't a gun or a kingdom.
It was the courage of a little girl who dared to whisper under a table.

It was the love of a woman who chose truth over terror.
And it was the promise of a man who finally brought his family out of the shadows and into the unbroken light.
