Chapter 10 - The Light in the Window

The grand Greenwich mansion was no longer a mausoleum.
Every window along the three-story facade glowed with warm, golden light. The scent of pine, fresh bread, and scented candles drifted through the open doors.
Inside the grand study—the very room where three-year-old Sofia had found the sapphire ring beneath the floorboards—the massive mahogany desk was now covered with children's storybooks, framed family photographs, and corporate architectural plans for community centers across the country.
Julian sat in his leather chair, with Sofia sitting on his lap, turning the pages of an illustrated book about stars.
Camila walked into the room carrying two mugs of hot chocolate. She set one on the desk and sat on the arm of Julian's chair, resting her hand over his shoulder.
Sofia pointed to a bright drawing of a blue star on the page. "Look, Daddy. It's the sleeping ring star."
Julian looked at the sapphire ring on Camila’s hand, then down at the little girl sitting in his arms.
"Yes it is, sweetheart," Julian whispered, leaning his head against Camila’s side as she wrapped her arm around him. "It woke up, and it brought us home."

Outside, a soft autumn rain began to fall, tapping rhythmically against the high glass windows of the west wing. But inside the mansion, there was no coldness, no silence, and no ghosts.
There was only the warmth of a second chance, the quiet strength of two souls healed by love, and the bright, unbreakable light of a family restored.
