Chapter 10 - A New Dawn

Two years later.
The morning sun rose over the hills of Malibu, casting a warm golden light across the deck of a breathtaking modern beach house.
I stood on the balcony holding a cup of hot black coffee, breathing in the fresh, salty breeze of the Pacific Ocean. I had officially stepped back from daily operations at Vance-Albright Enterprises, passing the role of Chief Executive Officer to Luke, who had managed to double the company's value while expanding our charitable foundations globally.
At twenty years old, Luke was recognized as one of the most brilliant young business leaders in the country, but more importantly, he remained a young man of profound integrity, kindness, and unwavering loyalty to family.
Down on the beach below, Luke was walking along the shoreline with his team, chatting warmly as they prepared for a regional youth mentorship conference we were hosting that weekend.
My phone rang gently on the glass table behind me. It was a notification from our legal team.
Notice of Final Administrative Review: Inmate Christopher Albright’s petition for early parole has been officially denied by the state board.
I read the notification, closed the screen, and placed the phone face down. It didn't bring me joy, nor did it bring me pain. It was simply the impartial balance of justice working as it should.
I looked down at my wrist. The gold bracelet caught the brilliant morning sunlight, glowing like a promise fulfilled.
I had lost a false marriage, a fraudulent friend, and a painful illusion. But in return, I had gained my life back, my son’s unshakeable partnership, my independence, and a peace of mind that no amount of money or titles could ever buy.
Luke looked up from the beach, noticing me on the balcony. He raised his hand and waved, a bright, genuine smile crossing his face.

I smiled back, waving down at him.
The story that began in darkness, poison, and public humiliation had finally reached its true ending—not of revenge, but of complete, unyielding freedom.
