Chapter 10 - A New Dawn

One year later.

The iron gates of the Moretti estate were adorned with thousands of white roses, pale blue hydrangeas, and trailing green ivy. The grand lawn overlooking the lake was filled with over two hundred guests—not just the senior captains of the Midwest syndicate, but city officials, doctors, nurses from the local children's hospital that Naomi supported, and families from all across Chicago.

Inside the second-floor master suite, Naomi stood before a full-length mirror.

She wore a breathtaking, simple gown of ivory silk that flowed gracefully down to the floor, her dark hair styled in soft waves adorned with small pearl pins. There were no heavy jewels, no ostentatious lace, and no vanity—just pure, radiant beauty.

Behind her, standing on her own two feet with the aid of a silver-topped walking stick, was Isabella.

The old woman was dressed in a stunning navy blue velvet dress, her hair styled neatly, her eyes bright with tears of pure joy.

"You... look... beautiful, my child," Isabella said, her voice clear, articulate, and strong.

Naomi turned around, tears pricking her eyes as she walked over and gently took Isabella’s hands. "I couldn't have done any of this without you, Mama Isabella."

"You... saved... us," Isabella whispered, squeezing Naomi’s hands tightly. "Now... go to... my son."

Outside on the grand terrace, under a massive wooden arch covered in white roses, stood Luca.

He wore a bespoke black tuxedo, looking taller and handsomer than ever. Beside him stood Marco, wearing a sharp grey suit, acting as his best man.

The string quartet began to play a soft, beautiful melody—not a solemn march, but the very song Isabella used to play on the grand piano before her stroke.

The crowd stood up and turned around.

Naomi stepped onto the terrace, walking slowly down the aisle paved with white rose petals. She didn't look at the crowd. She didn't look at the photographers or the security men standing at the perimeter. Her eyes were locked entirely on Luca.

When she reached the altar, Luca stepped down from the platform, taking her hands in his. His eyes were shining with an emotion so deep that even Marco had to look away to hide a proud tear.

"You are my strength," Luca whispered to her as the priest stepped forward to begin the ceremony. "My peace. My life."

"And you are mine," Naomi replied softly.

An hour later, the ceremony concluded to thunderous applause that echoed across the lake. Luca pulled Naomi close, dipping her back gently as he kissed his bride, a kiss that signaled not just a marriage, but the rebirth of a family built on truth, courage, and unyielding devotion.

At the head table during the grand reception, Isabella stood up, holding a glass of sparkling water. The entire lawn went dead silent as the matriarch of the Moretti family raised her glass.

"To my son," Isabella said, her voice carrying clearly through the microphone. "And to my daughter, Naomi. Who proved... that love... is stronger... than fear."

"To Luca and Naomi!" the crowd roared in unison, raising two hundred glasses into the golden twilight sky.

As the music flared up again and guests flooded onto the wooden dance floor, Luca took Naomi by the hand, leading her away from the noise toward the quiet edge of the lake terrace.

They stood together under the canopy of stars, the cool lake breeze rustling her silk gown, his arm wrapped firmly around her waist.

Behind them, through the lit windows of the estate, they could see Isabella laughing with Marco, surrounded by true friends, safety, and warmth.

"No more secrets," Naomi said softly, resting her head against Luca’s chest. "No more fear."

Luca kissed the top of her head, pulling her closer against him as the stars reflected off the calm, dark waters of the lake.

"No more shadows, my love," Luca whispered into the night. "Only us."
