Chapter 4 - The War of the Vance Dynasty

The storm outside raged, matching the tempest brewing inside the executive boardroom of Vance Enterprises.
Located on the sixty-fifth floor of a sleek glass skyscraper in downtown Boston, the boardroom offered a panoramic view of the rain-drenched city. A massive mahogany table sat in the center of the room, surrounded by twelve members of the family board—all older men who had grown rich under Arthur Vance’s reign and now feared Julian’s ruthless modernization of the company.
At the head of the table sat Victor Vance, Julian’s uncle. Victor was a polished, silver-haired man who wore his wealth like armor, but his eyes were greedy and sharp.
"We have the medical records, gentlemen," Victor was saying, tossing a manila folder onto the table. "Julian has been operating outside the law. He has used a secret medical facility in South Boston to produce an heir using harvested genetic material. This is a massive legal liability. If the press gets hold of this, the Vance stock will plunge to zero by morning. We must vote to remove him as CEO and appoint a temporary conservator."
"A conservator?" a voice boomed from the doorway.
The double doors of the boardroom swung open, and Julian Vance stepped inside. He had not changed his clothes; his dark overcoat was still damp from the rain, and his winter-blue eyes were cold and sharp enough to cut glass.
Behind him stood Elias and six heavily armed security guards.
The board members gasped, several of them instantly shifting in their seats, refusing to meet Julian’s gaze.
"Julian," Victor said, recovering his composure quickly. "You’re late. We were just discussing your... medical ventures."
"I’m not late, Victor," Julian said, walking slowly toward the table. He didn't take his seat at the head of the table; instead, he stood behind Victor’s chair, leaning down until his shadow completely enveloped his uncle. "I was just busy cleaning up your trash."
Victor’s face went slightly pale, but he maintained his smug smile. "I don't know what you're talking about."
"I think you do," Julian said. He reached into his coat and pulled out the black leather binder labeled Project Heritage, tossing it onto the table. It slid across the polished mahogany, coming to a stop in front of the board members. "This is my father’s legacy. And yours, Victor."
The board members looked at the file, their expressions turning from confusion to horror as they skimmed the documents.
"This is monstrous," one of the older trustees whispered. "Arthur... he did this?"
"Yes," Julian said, his voice echoing in the quiet room. "My father harvested my DNA while I was in a coma. He used my sister as a surrogate, and when she ran to protect my daughter, he declared her dead. And when my sister recently gave birth to my son, you, Victor... you had her drugged and thrown into an ICU under a fake name, and you ordered your men to discard my newborn son in a trash can behind my house."
"That is a lie!" Victor shouted, standing up, his polished veneer finally cracking. "You have no proof of this!"
"I have the DNA results," Julian said, pulling a folded document from his pocket and sliding it toward the board. "The lab finished the analysis an hour ago. Lily and the baby are my biological children. And I have the security footage from my estate showing your men dropping the child’s box into my dumpster."
Julian leaned closer to Victor, his voice dropping to a whisper that was deadlier than a gunshot. "In my world, Victor, we don't call the police. We resolve things. You tried to kill my son. You tried to bury my sister. You tried to steal my empire."
"Julian, please," Victor stammered, looking around the room for support, but the other board members were already turning away from him. They were businessmen; they knew when a ship was sinking, and Victor Vance was currently underwater. "We can make a deal. We can share the control—"
"There is no deal," Julian said. "You are stripped of your shares. You are removed from the board. And as of this moment, you are being escorted to the federal authorities on charges of kidnapping, medical fraud, and attempted murder."
Elias and two guards stepped forward, grabbing Victor by his arms and dragging him toward the door.
"You can't do this, Julian!" Victor screamed as he was led away. "I am a Vance! You are nothing without this family!"
Julian watched him go, his face expressionless. He turned to the remaining board members, who were staring at him in terrified silence.

"This company is no longer a dynasty of secrets," Julian said, his voice firm and commanding. "From this day forward, Vance Enterprises will be run with absolute transparency. If any of you have a problem with that, my legal team is ready to buy out your shares at a discount. Have a good evening, gentlemen."
Julian turned and walked out of the boardroom, leaving the ghosts of his father’s legacy behind him.
