Chapter 9 - Exposing the Shadows

The fight was won, but the victory required a permanent seal.

Using General Cole’s personal encrypted terminal in Room 12, Lily and Caleb uploaded the entire manifest of the Sentinel Group’s illegal transactions, including their communications with the rogue mercenary coalition, directly to the federal database of the Joint Chiefs of Staff and every major news outlet in the country.

Within minutes, the building was surrounded by a fleet of tactical vehicles—not Cole’s mercenaries, but the active, loyal units of the United States military and the FBI.

General Marcus Cole was arrested on the floor of Room 12, his stars stripped from his uniform as he was dragged away in handcuffs, his empire dismantled by a nurse and a retired operative who had refused to let the shadows consume them.

Dr. Richard Vance was fully exonerated of all past charges, his reputation restored as he returned to his quiet retirement in the New Hampshire hills.

For Caleb and Lily, the clearance was absolute.

A personal, hand-delivered letter from the President of the United States arrived at the Portland harbor safe house three days later. The letter officially decommissioned the Aegis orbital network, permanently deleting the master biometric database. The project was dead. Caleb Ror was no longer a military asset. He was, for the first time in his entire life, a completely free man.
