Chapter 10 - Forever

The warm summer breeze rolled over the grassy hills of the Long Island estate.
A large wooden gazebo had been built near the edge of the cliffs overlooking the blue waters of the Sound.
In the center of the gazebo rested a simple, beautiful granite monument surrounded by blooming lavender bushes. On the stone were carved the names of Colette Valente and Brutus, beneath the family crest and those timeless words: Per Sempre.
Rosie, now twenty-five and a published author and child psychologist, sat on the gazebo steps, watching the sunset cast golden reflections across the calm water.
Beside her sat her husband, Marcus Vance—Dr. Julian Vance’s son, who had grown up alongside Rosie and now worked as the chief surgeon at the sanctuary.
Ezra and Lena walked up the stone path, holding hands, watching their young son Leo playing tag with Hero, the mastiff pup, down on the lawn.
"It's a beautiful evening, isn't it, Papa?" Rosie said, looking up as her father sat beside her on the wooden steps.
"It is, mia cara," Ezra said softly, wrapping his arm around his daughter's shoulders. "The most beautiful evening of my life."
Lena sat on Ezra's other side, resting her head against his shoulder. "Who would have thought... that a stormy morning at the Sovereign would bring us all here?"
"It wasn't a storm," Rosie said, looking down at the silver harmonica resting in her palm. "It was just the universe making sure we found each other."

As the sun sank below the horizon, painting the sky in brilliant shades of pink, orange, and gold, the family sat together in peaceful silence.
The dark shadows of the past were gone, replaced by the warmth of a home built on unwavering loyalty, fierce courage, and a love that would endure... forever.
