Chapter 6 - The Healing of Rosie

With Moretti locked away and the traitorous elements of the syndicate purged, peace finally returned to the Valente family.
The dark clouds that had hung over the Sovereign Hotel for eight years lifted.
Ezra made a monumental decision that shocked the entire New York business world. He officially stepped down as head of the Valente crime family, transitioning the syndicate’s vast resources entirely into legitimate commercial real estate, international shipping, and philanthropic foundations.
The Sovereign Hotel was completely renovated.
The cold, intimidating marble lobby was transformed into a warm, inviting atrium filled with skylights, live green gardens, and comfortable leather seating.
In the center of the lobby stood a bronze statue of a magnificent mastiff, with a brass plaque reading: BRUTUS — LEADER OF THE FAITHFUL.
On a sunny Saturday morning, ten-year-old Rosie walked through the lobby.
She was no longer wearing the blood-stained lace dress of that tragic morning. She wore a bright yellow summer dress, her dark hair tied back in a neat ribbon, her cheeks full of color and life.
Beside her walked Brutus, his coat sleek, shiny, and full, his tail wagging happily as hotel guests paused to stroke his ears.
At the reception desk, where Monica Hail had once stood spouting hatred, stood a young, smiling receptionist who greeted every guest with genuine warmth.
Rosie walked up to the main office behind the desk.
Inside sat Lena Carver, dressed in a sharp blazer, overseeing the hotel’s security and staff operations. On her desk sat a framed photograph of herself, Ezra, Rosie, and Brutus standing on the beach in Long Island.
"Lena!" Rosie called out, running in and wrapping her arms around Lena’s waist.
Lena laughed, spinning the little girl around before setting her down. "Morning, kiddo. Ready for your music lesson?"
"Yes!" Rosie pulled the silver harmonica from her pocket. "Dr. Vance said my lungs are completely healed. I can play the full song now!"
Ezra walked into the office, carrying two cups of hot coffee. He set one down on Lena’s desk, his hand brushing gently against hers—a small, intimate gesture that spoke volumes about how close they had become over the past year.

"How is my two favorite ladies doing today?" Ezra asked, a soft, genuine warmth in his eyes that had completely replaced the cold smoke of his past.
"We're perfect, Papa," Rosie said, taking Lena’s hand in one side and Ezra’s in the other. "We're completely perfect."
