Chapter 10 - The Symphony of Eight Languages

One year after the historic trial.

The top floor of Rossi Tower—the very room where twelve interpreters had failed on a blood-soaked night—had been transformed into a cultural center and educational trust named the Maeve Nolan Foundation. The charity was established to provide language education, job training, and legal aid to immigrants, low-income workers, and marginalized women.

Tonight, an intimate gala was being held to celebrate the foundation’s anniversary and the upcoming arrival of the newest member of the Rossi family.

Crystal chandeliers illuminated the sprawling ballroom, but the cold, deadly atmosphere of the past was entirely gone. Instead, warm laughter, live orchestral music, and international delegates filled the space.

Anthony Rossi walked over to Maeve with a glass of sparkling cider, a warm smile on his face. "Thank you, Maeve. Because of you, our family finally lives in the light."

"We're family, Anthony," Maeve smiled, gently resting her hand on her rounded baby bump beneath her emerald silk gown.

Dominic stepped up behind her, wrapping his arms tenderly around her waist and resting his chin on her shoulder.

"Are you feeling tired, Mrs. Rossi?" Dominic whispered, his dark eyes filled with warmth and devotion.

"I’ve never felt better," Maeve murmured, turning in his arms to look into his eyes. "Do you remember this room two years ago, Dominic? When I was scrubbing blood off the rug for fifteen dollars and seventy-five cents an hour?"

Dominic raised her hand to his lips, kissing her knuckles gently.

"It was the night my real life began," Dominic said softly. "The night I realized I didn't need more bodyguards or multi-million-dollar contracts. I just needed a brave woman who could hear the truth amid a forest of lies."

He pulled a small velvet box from his jacket. Inside was a platinum necklace featuring eight delicately crafted flag charms representing the eight languages Maeve had used to save his family. Engraved on the back of the pendant in Dominic’s handwriting were the words: Standard of Truth & Love.

Dominic carefully fastened the necklace around her neck.

As the guests raised their glasses in a toast, Dominic took Maeve’s hand, leading her out onto the balcony to look over the glowing New York skyline.

The night breeze blew softly across the terrace. The quiet cleaning woman who had once been invisible was now the Queen beside the man ruling the Rossi empire—built not on bullets or fear, but on intellect, courage, and a love that transcended every language on earth.
