Chapter 10 - A New Dawn in Brooklyn
The private medical wing of the Vance estate was filled with the quiet, tense anticipation of a new life arriving. For twelve hours, Vincent never left Norah's side. He held her hand through every contraction, letting her knuckles white against his skin, whispering words of love and encouragement in her ear as she fought through the pain.
And then, just as the morning sun broke over the Brooklyn skyline, a loud, healthy cry echoed through the room.
The physician smiled, wrapping the newborn in a soft pink blanket before gently handing him to a exhausted, tearful Norah. "Congratulations, Mr. and Mrs. Vance. A healthy baby boy."
Norah held her son against her chest, her tears falling softly onto his soft black hair. He had his father's striking features, and when he opened his tiny eyes for a brief second, they were a beautiful, familiar shade of stormy gray.
Vincent sat on the edge of the bed, his strong frame trembling as he looked down at his son. Slowly, with immense care, he reached out his large, calloused hand—the same hand that had destroyed empires—and allowed the baby's tiny fingers to curl around his index finger.
"Leo," Vincent whispered, his voice thick with emotion. "His name is Leo Vance."
Norah looked up at her husband, seeing the fierce mafia boss completely transformed by the pure, unyielding love of a father. The nightmare that had started in that small Brooklyn café, with fear and violence, had led them through the storm into the most beautiful dawn imaginable.
Vincent leaned down, wrapping his arms around both Norah and their son, kissing her lips with a sweetness that promised an eternity of safety and peace.
