Chapter 8 - The Siege of South Boston

The storm hit Boston with full force at midnight. Lightning flashed across the black harbor waters, illuminating the industrial docks of South Boston where Marcus Rossi’s primary stronghold lay—a heavily guarded warehouse at the edge of Pier 4.

Inside the warehouse, Marcus Rossi sat surrounded by a dozen armed men, sipping bourbon, looking over maps of the Vale territories.

"The commission gave him forty-eight hours," one of Rossi's lieutenants said nervously. "What if Vale comes after us tonight?"

"Dominic Vale is a coward like his father," Marcus scoffed, slamming his glass onto the table. "He hides behind lawyers and accountants. Tomorrow, we take the Dorchester center, we find the real books, and we finish what we started five years ago."

Suddenly, the warehouse doors were blown off their hinges with a deafening explosion.

Smoke and fire roared into the hangar as flashbang grenades blinded Rossi’s guards. Before the smoke could clear, heavy gunfire erupted.

Dominic Vale walked through the flaming doorway, flanked by twenty of his most ruthless enforcers. Dominic wore a black tactical vest over his dark shirt, holding a high-caliber rifle, moving like a force of nature.

"Take them down!" Marcus screamed, scrambling behind a stack of shipping crates, pulling his firearm.

The gunfight was brutal, loud, and short. Dominic’s men moved with terrifying military precision, neutralizing Rossi’s guards one by one. Dominic moved forward relentlessly, ignoring the bullets splintering the wooden crates around him.

A guard jumped out from behind a forklift, firing at Dominic, but Dominic ducked, returned fire with three precise shots, dropping the man instantly, then kicked open the door to the inner office where Marcus was trying to escape through a side exit.

Dominic grabbed Rossi by the throat from behind, slamming him violently against the brick wall.

Marcus choked, struggling frantically, his eyes wild with terror as he looked into Dominic’s face. Dominic’s eyes were completely devoid of mercy.

"Dominic! Wait!" Marcus gasped, blood dripping from his lip. "It was business! You know how the harbor works! Your father agreed—"

"You killed my brother," Dominic said, his voice a low, terrifying growl that chilled Marcus to the bone.

Marcus froze, his face draining of all color. "What... what are you talking about?"

"Julian," Dominic tightened his crushing grip on Rossi’s neck. "You sabotaged his car in Gloucester. And then you murdered Danielle Carter."

"I... I didn't know she had a kid!" Marcus choked out, flailing his arms. "I swear, Dominic! It was just business! Vincent was getting too powerful!"

Dominic pulled Marcus forward and slammed him into the concrete floor, putting his heavy tactical boot directly onto Rossi’s chest, crushing his ribs.

"You spent five years hunting an innocent five-year-old girl," Dominic said, raising his pistol and aiming it directly between Marcus Rossi’s eyes. "You touched my family. And for that, there is no negotiation."

"Dominic, please!" Marcus shrieked, raising his trembling hands.

BANG.

The gunshot echoed through the empty warehouse, drowned out by the thunder roaring over the ocean outside.

Dominic stood over the lifeless body of Marcus Rossi for a long moment, his chest heaving, the weapon smoking in his hand.

Noah walked into the office, stepping over the debris, and looked at Rossi’s body.

"It’s over, sir," Noah said softly. "Rossi’s remaining lieutenants have surrendered across the city. The other families have already sent word—they acknowledge your absolute authority over New England."

Dominic lowered his weapon. He looked down at his blood-stained hands, feeling no triumph, no joy—only a profound, hollow exhaustion.

"Clean this up, Noah," Dominic said quietly, walking toward the exit into the cool night rain. "I'm going home."
