Chapter 6 - The Fall of Victoria Harrison

By 6:00 AM the following morning, the sun rose over a freezing, snow-dusted Boston skyline.
At the majestic waterfront penthouse of Victoria Harrison on Harbor Towers, four black federal law enforcement SUVs pulled up to the private marble driveway, their red and blue strobe lights flashing silently against the snow.
Eight armed federal marshals, accompanied by the Assistant United States Attorney, stepped out of the high-speed elevator directly onto the top-floor private foyer.
Victoria Harrison stood near her floor-to-ceiling windows, wearing a silk robe, sipping tea from a porcelain cup. Her face turned the color of ash as the heavy glass double doors were breached by the federal team.
"What is the meaning of this outrage?!" Victoria shrieked, setting her cup down so hard it shattered on the marble counter. "Do you know who I am?! I am the Chairperson of Harrison Global!"
"Victoria Harrison," the lead marshal announced, unholstering a pair of heavy steel handcuffs. "You are under federal arrest for attempted murder, conspiracy to commit murder of a minor, and corporate racketeering."
Behind the marshals, stepping slowly out of the private elevator, was Richard Harrison.
He was dressed in a slate-gray suit, his eyes cold, distant, and utterly unyielding.
"Richard!" Victoria gasped, her voice cracking as she backed up against her glass display case. "Richard, listen to me! This is a setup! That traitor Colin Dray lied to the police! I would never hurt Ethan!"
Richard pulled an encrypted digital tablet from his inner jacket pocket and pressed play.
A crystal-clear, high-definition audio recording played through the room’s speakers—the wiretapped phone call captured by federal authorities three hours ago between Colin Dray and Victoria:
"The boy, Ethan, is fragile. If an unfortunate infection occurs while that street girl is near him... who do you think the medical examiners will blame? Make it happen, Colin."
Victoria’s breath evaporated completely from her lungs. She collapsed back into her velvet armchair, her hands shaking uncontrollably, her arrogant, aristocratic composure crumbling into pathetic, wretched dust.
"You tried to kill my son for money, Victoria," Richard said, his voice dropping into a register so dark it made the federal agents shudder. "I have already executed my legal right as majority owner to dissolve the Harrison Family Trust. Every asset, every stock option, and every bank account bearing your name has been permanently frozen by court order."

The federal marshals stepped forward, pulling Victoria out of her chair, pinning her arms behind her back, and snapping the steel cuffs securely around her manicured wrists.
"You'll rot in a federal prison for the rest of your life, Victoria," Richard said coldly, turning his back on her as she was led away screaming and sobbing into the elevator. "And my family will never hear your name again."
