Chapter 8 - The Crimson Altar

The day of the wedding arrived. The Savannah Yacht Club was decorated with thousands of white roses—an ironic touch, considering the woman Arthur had killed. Over three hundred of the city's elite sat in the pews of the outdoor chapel, overlooking the sparkling water.

Arthur stood at the altar, looking incredibly smug in his white tuxedo. Chloe walked down the aisle in a custom designer gown, dripping in diamonds purchased with Rose's stolen money.

The priest began the ceremony. "If anyone here present knows of any reason why these two should not be wed, let them speak now, or forever hold their peace."

A heavy silence fell over the crowd.

"I do," a strong, clear voice echoed from the back of the chapel.

Every head turned.

Walking down the center aisle was Lucy, Rachel, and April, dressed in beautiful blue dresses—their mother's favorite color. I walked right beside them, wearing my best suit, holding the heavy blue envelope in my hand.

Arthur’s face turned from smug satisfaction to pure horror in a fraction of a second. "What is the meaning of this?" he hissed, stepping forward. "Security! Get these people out of here!"

Two security guards rushed forward, but they were immediately stopped by four men in dark suits who stepped out from the crowd. They flashed badges.

"Federal Bureau of Investigation," one of the agents announced loudly. "Nobody moves."
