Chapter 4 - A Dangerous Trap

Instead of removing the cameras, Sebastian, Victoria, and Rosa devised a counter-strategy. If the blackmailers believed their surveillance grid was still active, they would proceed with their plan to force the Hudson Yards signing at the upcoming annual Metropolitan Gala in Manhattan—the premier gathering of New York's political and financial elite.
"We leave the cameras in place," Marcus instructed during their emergency briefing. "We loop fake, pre-recorded room ambience using high-end video synthesis so they think the penthouse is occupied normally. Meanwhile, Miss Martinez accompanies us to New York."
Rosa blinked in surprise. "To New York? Why me?"
"Because you have the eye," Sebastian said, looking at her with genuine respect. "You spotted what three different commercial security sweeps missed. The syndicate will have operatives at the gala monitoring live feeds and physical security. We need someone who knows what concealed hardware looks like under real-world conditions."

Rosa hesitated, thinking of her life as a quiet cleaner, invisible to the world. But then she remembered the anger she felt when she saw that camera above the bed—the complete violation of human dignity.
"I'm going," Rosa said firmly. "Give me something better to wear than a blue tunic."
