Chapter 9 - The Rebirth of the Estate
Over the next six months, the Beverly Hills mansion underwent a complete transformation. It was no longer a cold monument to corporate success; it became a living, breathing community.
Under Rosa's new leadership as Director of Domestic Operations, the entire estate staff was treated with the highest level of dignity and respect. Every employee received a substantial raise, comprehensive health insurance, and a guaranteed retirement plan funded directly by the Vance Global corporate foundation.
The fake vendor accounts that Julian and Harrison had used to steal millions were completely liquidated, and the recovered funds were placed into a permanent employee wellness trust fund.
I sat out on the back patio on a beautiful Saturday afternoon, watching a catered lunch being prepared for the entire staff and their families. It was our first annual employee appreciation day. Children were running through the manicured lawns, playing games, and laughing under the sun.
Rosa walked out to the patio, holding a clipboard, her face glowing with a health and happiness she hadn't possessed six months ago. She looked pristine, confident, and deeply respected by everyone on the property.
"Everything is ready for the presentation, Mr. Vance," Rosa said with a warm smile.
"Thank you, Rosa," I said, standing up. "And please, call me Vance. We are past the formal titles now."
"Thank you, Vance," she said softly, her eyes shimmering with gratitude. "You didn't just save my home, you changed my daughter's entire future. She wants to be a lawyer now. She says she wants to protect people who can't speak for themselves."
"She’s already a better lawyer than anyone on my corporate team," I laughed.
We walked down to the lawn, where the staff had gathered around a temporary stage. I took the microphone, looking out at the faces of the people who worked tirelessly every single day to make my life comfortable.

"I want to thank all of you for your dedication, your loyalty, and your grace," I said into the microphone. "For a long time, I thought this place was just a house. But you have shown me that a home is built on honor, respect, and family. And you are all my family."
The crowd erupted into thunderous applause, their smiles genuine and bright.
