Chapter 10 - A New Horizon

One year later.

I stood in a quiet, sun-drenched meadow, miles away from Dallas. I had sold the mansion, donated the blood money to a foundation for children in need, and changed my name. I was sitting on a bench overlooking a small, private garden dedicated to Rose and Thomas.

Samantha sat beside me. "The last of the offshore accounts have been seized. The government is finished with the case, Elena."

I nodded, feeling a strange sense of weightlessness. I had spent twelve years as an accountant, followed by years as a wife, then a year as a hunter. Who was I now?

I picked up a book, opening it to a blank page. I wasn't just a survivor anymore; I was a creator. I had survived the worst thing a human being can experience and had systematically torn down the monsters responsible. I stood up, taking a deep breath of clean, mountain air. My children were at peace, and for the first time, I allowed myself to be at peace, too. I walked toward the horizon, no longer looking back at the shadows. I was finally free.
