Chapter 6 - Betrayal at the Docks

The peace that followed the gala was short-lived.

Don Moretti, humiliated before the entire city’s elite, knew that his power in Ravensport was slipping away. Driven by desperation and wounded pride, he realized he couldn't defeat Dominic Vale in a direct war. He needed leverage.

Three weeks after the gala, on a foggy Tuesday afternoon, Claire was returning to Villa Vale from a visit to a local charity organization she had recently begun sponsoring.

She sat in the back of a armored Mercedes, escorted by two of Dominic’s trusted bodyguards. The fog rolled thick off the ocean, reducing visibility on the coastal road to a few feet.

Suddenly, a heavy gravel truck pulled out from a side road, slamming directly into the front of the Mercedes.

The collision was violent, airbags deploying with a deafening bang. Before the dazed bodyguards could recover, doors flew open and six masked men armed with automatic rifles surrounded the vehicle.

"Out of the car! Now!" a voice roared.

Claire gasped, her heart pounding in terror as the driver’s side window was smashed open. Her bodyguards tried to pull their weapons, but they were overpowered and dragged out into the fog.

The rear door was yanked open, and a heavy black hood was tossed over Claire’s head before she could scream. She was dragged out of the car, her wrists zip-tied behind her back, and shoved into the rear of a waiting van.

The van sped away into the mist, tires screaming on the damp asphalt.

An hour later, Villa Vale was in a state of absolute madness.

Dominic stood in his library, surrounded by twenty armed capos and lieutenants. The room was heavy with tension. Marco stood near the desk, holding a satellite phone that had just disconnected.

"It was Moretti," Marco said, his voice grim. "He has her at the abandoned grain silos near the south docks. He says if you don't surrender your shipping contracts and sign over the northern territory by midnight, he will kill her."

CRASH.

Dominic swung his hand, sending his massive mahogany desk sliding two feet across the room, smashing lamps, glass cups, and papers onto the floor. His face was contorted in a terrifying rage that made even his most hardened enforcers take a step back.

"He touched her," Dominic whispered, his voice dangerously low, vibrating with pure fury. "After everything I said... he laid his hands on her."

"Boss, we need a plan," Marco urged. "The grain silos are a fortress. Moretti has at least thirty men stationed there with heavy weapons. If we charge in blindly, they might shoot Miss Claire before we reach the top floor."

Dominic turned, his dark eyes practically glowing with lethal intent. He pulled a heavy tactical vest over his clothes and racked the slide of his custom silver pistol.

"We are not going to negotiate," Dominic said coldly. "We are going to execute every single man standing in that building. Marco, call the vanguard. Tell them to cut the power to the entire southern dock district."
