Chapter 7: A New Empire

One year later.
The grand gardens of Blackwood Estates were filled with life, light, and the sounds of a joyful celebration. The wrought-iron gates were wide open, welcoming hundreds of guests from both the legitimate business world and the city’s high society. The Blackwood family had officially transitioned the majority of their operations into a legitimate global shipping and real estate conglomerate, leaving the bloody ways of the past behind.
Elena Blackwood sat in a comfortable chair near the grand fountain, looking radiant and healthy, her eyes filled with tears of pure pride as she watched the scene unfold.
At the edge of the beautifully manicured lawn, standing beneath a massive canopy of white wisteria, was Victor. He looked breathtakingly handsome in a classic black tuxedo, his dark hair catching the golden rays of the setting sun. The faint scar on his cheek was still there, a reminder of the warrior he used to be, but his eyes were no longer cold. They were warm, vibrant, and fixed entirely on the glass doors of the mansion.
The music transitioned into a beautiful, swelling orchestral piece.
The doors opened, and Rose stepped out.
The crowd gasped in unison. She wore a flawless, custom-made white silk wedding gown that cascaded behind her like a river of pearls. She held a bouquet of crimson roses—the color of the family that had adopted her, the color of the love that had transformed them all. She walked down the aisle with a radiant confidence, her eyes locked onto Victor, the man who had torn down his own walls just to let her in.
When she reached the altar, Victor stepped forward, taking both of her hands in his. His grip was strong, steady, and filled with a fierce, eternal devotion.
"You are absolutely breathtaking," Victor whispered, his voice thick with a raw emotion he no longer tried to hide.
"And you're not frowning for once," Rose teased softly, her eyes crinkling with pure happiness.
"Only for you, Rose. Only for you," he smiled.
The wedding vows were brief but deeply profound, a sacred promise between two vastly different worlds that had collided to create something beautiful. When the minister finally pronounced them husband and wife, Victor pulled Rose into his arms, dipping her slightly as he kissed her with an overwhelming passion that sealed their futures together forever.
The guests erupted into a roaring applause, white and crimson rose petals raining down upon them like a blessing.
Later that night, as the moon rose high over the city, casting a silver glow across the lake, Victor and Rose stood together on the highest balcony of the mansion. The music from the reception below drifted up to them, sweet and distant.
Victor wrapped his arms around her from behind, pulling her tight against his chest, shielding her from the cool night breeze.
"A year ago, I told you that kindness didn't survive in this house," Victor murmured against her hair, his heart beating a steady, peaceful rhythm against her back. "I was wrong. You didn't just survive, Rose. You changed everything. You saved my mother, you saved this empire, and you saved me."

Rose turned around in his arms, looping her hands around his neck, looking up into the eyes of the mafia king who had become her husband, her partner, and her greatest protector.
"We saved each other, Victor," Rose whispered, leaning up to press a sweet, lingering kiss onto his lips. "And our story is just beginning."
