Chapter 2 - Emergency at St. Jude’s

The chaos of the hospital waiting room blurred into a cacophony of beeping monitors and hurried footsteps.

Kaylee was wheeled straight into the delivery ward, her body betraying her under the sheer adrenaline and trauma of the boiling milk attack. Mateo refused to leave her side, his hand locked tightly in hers as obstetricians and nurses scrambled to manage a premature delivery triggered by acute physical shock.

"Heart rate is dropping slightly, we need to prep for an emergency C-section now," the lead surgeon called out over the monitors.

"Save my son," Kaylee whispered, a tear slipping down her cheek as the mask was lowered over her face. "Please, Mateo..."

"You're both going to make it," Mateo vowed, kissing her forehead fiercely before security gently ushered him out to scrub up.

While Kaylee fought for her and her baby's lives under surgical lights, miles away in a high-end downtown café, Camila sat with shaking hands. She had finally managed to plug the black hard wallet into her laptop to transfer the supposed millions.

Instead of a bank balance, a black screen flashed across her monitor: ACCESS DENIED. ASSET TRACE INITIATED. AUTHORITIES NOTIFIED.

Her phone buzzed violently. It was a text from her mother, Valyria: Did you transfer it? Camila’s reply was trembling: Mom... it's a trap. The feds are pinging my IP.
