Chapter 6: The True Future of the Empire

Two years later.

The grand ballroom of the Minneapolis Heritage Hall was filled with laughter, soft jazz music, and the clinking of champagne glasses. Tonight was the 10th anniversary gala of Ashford Meridian Group, and the entire business community had gathered to celebrate the company's unprecedented global success.

Claire stood near the grand terrace, wearing a breathtaking gown of emerald green silk, her hand resting lightly on the railing. Her life was full, successful, and completely secure.

From behind her, a pair of strong, warm arms wrapped gently around her waist. She leaned back into his chest, a deep, restorative peace washing over her. Reid pressed a soft kiss to the side of her neck, his hands resting over hers. The marriage ring was back on his finger—not a symbol of corporate status, but a vow of eternal devotion.

"The boys just fell asleep in the VIP suite with the nanny," Reid whispered, his voice full of warmth. "Caleb tried to eat a flower from the centerpiece before we got them upstairs."

Claire laughed, turning around in his arms to look up at him. "He gets his stubborn streak from you, you know."

"And thank God he gets his intelligence from you," Reid smiled, his eyes locked onto hers with an intensity that made her heart skip a beat. Over the past two years, Reid had proven every single day that his redemption was real. He had become an incredible, hands-on father, a supportive co-director, and a husband who valued her mind and her heart above all else. They had quietly remarried in a private garden ceremony six months prior, far away from the cameras and the media circus.

Carlos Varela and Arthur Vance stood near the bar, raising their glasses to the couple with proud smiles. The empire was safe, united, and stronger than it had ever been.

Suddenly, the lights in the ballroom dimmed slightly, and the master of ceremonies took the microphone. "Ladies and gentlemen, please welcome the Chairperson of Ashford Meridian, Mrs. Claire Ashford, and Managing Director, Mr. Reid Ashford!"

As the guests erupted into thunderous applause, Reid held out his arm to his wife. Claire wrapped her arm securely around his, her head held high, her smile radiant and genuine.

Two years ago, outside that county courthouse, Marissa Blake had sneered, "Some women are only part of the warm-up."

Looking at the beautiful family they had rebuilt, the massive sustainable legacy they had created, and the unconditional love that protected them, Claire finally had the ultimate answer.

The warm-up was over. The real future of the empire had just begun.
