The criminal trial that followed six months later was brief. Faced with overwhelming digital evidence, recorded phone calls, and testimonies from his own co-conspirators, Ryan Vance entered a guilty plea to federal charges of wire fraud, bank forgery, money laundering, and witness tampering.
The federal judge sentenced Ryan Vance to twenty-four years in federal prison without the possibility of parole, alongside full asset forfeiture that completely liquidated his wealth.
Chloe Sterling, his mistress, received three years of probation and was forced to surrender all gifted assets, including the jewelry stolen from my daughter.
Victor Thorne’s law firm was placed under federal investigation, leading to multiple disbarments across its senior partners.
On the day Ryan was transferred to a maximum-security facility, I visited him one last time at the holding center.
We stood on opposite sides of the reinforced glass window. Ryan picked up the telephone, his hands trembling in his handcuffs.
“Are you happy now, David?” Ryan whispered bitterly through the phone. “You destroyed my life.”

I placed the phone back on the hook, stood up, and walked out into the sunlight, leaving him behind in the dark forever.
