Chapter 6 - The Wrath of Moretti

Before the attackers could breach our car, the roar of a high-powered engine sliced through the blizzard.
A custom armored vehicle rammed directly into the attackers' truck, pinning it against the guardrail. The driver’s side door threw open, and Vincent Moretti stepped out into the freezing air, his face an expression of pure, unadulterated fury.
He didn't take cover. Backed by a dozen of his elite operatives who arrived in seconds, Vincent moved with terrifying precision. Within two minutes, the ambush was completely dismantled.
Vincent strode to our SUV, tearing the dented door open with his bare hands.
"Lily! Rose!" he yelled, his voice laced with rare panic. "Are you hit?"
"We're okay!" I sobbed, lifting my head. "Eli is okay!"

Vincent looked at us, his chest heaving. Seeing that we were unharmed, the violent dark energy surrounding him evaporated, replaced by deep relief. He reached in and gently pulled me and Eli into a fierce hug.
"No one touches my family," Vincent growled into the cold night air. "No one."
