Chapter 10 - A New Horizon

One year later.

Warm summer sunlight washed over the wildflower fields behind the Idaho compound. Khloe's new home—a beautiful cottage built on the edge of the property—was framed by a white picket fence and vibrant rose gardens.

Little Leo, now taking his first sturdy steps, giggled loudly as he toddled across the grass. His soft hair bounced in the breeze as Brick—whom he affectionately called "Uncle Brick"—lifted the boy high onto his broad shoulders, making him roar with delight.

Khloe stood on the porch, holding a freshly painted wooden sign: "Leo's Haven — A Sanctuary for Women & Children." Funded by her restitution settlement and supported by the club, she had opened a fully operational shelter on the compound grounds to help survivors rebuild their lives.

"Everything set for the opening ceremony, Khloe?" Brick asked, walking over with Leo riding comfortably on his shoulder.

"Everything's perfect, Brick," Khloe smiled, looking across the lawn. Martha was setting out fresh lemonade, Pops was showing local kids how to tune up bicycles, and the broad-shouldered men who had once looked intimidating were now her fiercest protectors and family.

She remembered that storm-soaked night a year ago—sitting on a plastic milk crate, eighty-five cents short for formula, terrified and completely alone in the dark. Now, she wanted for nothing. She had her freedom, a bright future for her son, and an unbroken brotherhood ready to stand against any storm to keep her safe.

Khloe took her son's hand, stepping off the porch into the warm, golden afternoon sunlight—a bright new beginning she had fought so hard to win.
