After four hours of deliberation, the jury returned to a packed courtroom with their verdict.
The judge read out the findings: Derek Lawson was found guilty on all 18 federal counts, including human trafficking, racketeering, bribery, and attempted murder. He was sentenced to life in prison without the possibility of parole. His corrupt deputies, including Richard and the county sheriff, received sentences ranging from 15 to 25 years.
