Chapter 10 - The Horizon

I stood at the edge of the new park, the wind whipping my hair. I had everything I had ever wanted: freedom, clarity, and the knowledge that I had fought for my own soul and won.
I wasn't looking back anymore. The ghosts of the past were buried deep, under the weight of the justice I had served.
I walked toward my car, a simple, reliable sedan. I had a flight to catch. Not to escape, but to travel. To see the world without having to worry about trusts, or ledgers, or shadows.
As I started the engine, I looked at the rearview mirror one last time.
There was no one behind me.
