Chapter 10 - Dawn over Long Island

One year later.

The summer sun rose over the rolling green lawns of the Rossi estate on Long Island, casting golden light across the blue waters of the ocean.

A grand white tent had been erected on the cliffside garden, decorated with thousands of white roses and lilies. The air was filled with music, laughter, and the delicious aroma of authentic Italian feasts.

Hunter stood at the altar overlooking the sea, wearing a custom lace wedding dress that flowed around her like sea foam. Standing beside her was Lorenzo, looking breathtakingly handsome in a tailored black tuxedo, his eyes fixed on her with absolute devotion.

Priest: "Do you, Lorenzo Rossi, take Hunter Vance to be your lawfully wedded wife, to have and to hold, in sickness and in health, for richer or for poorer, until death do you part?"

"I do," Lorenzo said without a second of hesitation, his voice ringing strong and true across the gathered crowd of hundreds.

"And do you, Hunter Vance, take Lorenzo Rossi to be your lawfully wedded husband?"

Hunter smiled, tears of pure joy slipping down her radiant cheeks. "I do."

"By the power vested in me, I now pronounce you husband and wife. You may kiss the bride."

Lorenzo pulled Hunter into his arms, dipping her slightly as he kissed her deeply, eliciting loud cheers, applause, and gunfire toasts from the Rossi syndicate guards surrounding the estate grounds.

After the ceremony, during the reception on the lawn, Lorenzo and Hunter sat together on a plush lounge sofa. Fifteen-month-old Leo, now walking on sturdy little legs, came toddling over to them, clutching a wooden toy boat.

"Mama! Dada!" Leo giggled, throwing his chubby arms around Hunter's knees.

Hunter leaned down and scooped her son up into her lap, kissing his soft cheeks while Lorenzo wrapped his arm around both of them, pulling them tight against his chest.

"A year ago, I thought my life was over," Hunter whispered, resting her head against Lorenzo’s shoulder as they watched the sun set over the Atlantic. "I thought grief was all I had left."

"Grief brought us together," Lorenzo said gently, kissing her forehead. "But love gave us a future."

Leo snuggled between them, letting out a soft, contented sigh as he held both of their hands. The heart monitor that had once screamed in a cold, sterile room was long gone, replaced by the steady, peaceful beat of a family that had survived the dark and stepped together into the golden light of a new dawn.
