Chapter 10 - A Beautiful New Dawn

It was Christmas Eve once again. A heavy blanket of snow covered the landscape outside, creating a quiet winter wonderland, but the atmosphere inside the grand Whitmore estate was entirely different.

A massive Christmas tree stood in the formal living room, decorated with silver stars, colorful lights, and handmade ornaments that cast a warm, golden glow across the polished wood floors. A grand fire crackled merrily in the hearth, sending waves of deep comfort throughout the house.

Audrey stood by the large windows, holding a warm cup of cocoa, watching the snow fall softly against the glass. Her emerald ring gleamed proudly in the firelight. She wore a comfortable, elegant maternity sweater—her form showing the beautiful, unmistakable curve of a healthy, seven-month pregnancy.

The fertility tests Dominic had requested years ago had been an accurate diagnosis for him, but Audrey was perfectly healthy. The universe had restored what had been stolen, giving her a new beginning with a man of true honor.

Alexander walked out of the kitchen, carrying a grand silver tray holding a roasted holiday dinner, his face beaming with the pride of a husband and father-in-waiting. He walked over to Audrey, wrapping his arms gently around her from behind, resting his hands over the warm curve of her stomach.

"The doctor said you need to stay off your feet for the rest of the evening, Mrs. Reed," Alexander whispered playfully, kissing the top of her head.

"The baby agrees with you," Audrey laughed softly, leaning her head back against his chest as a strong, healthy kick vibrated against his palms. "He’s very active tonight."

Sophia Sterling walked out from the dining room, raising a glass of wine to them with a warm approval. "The table is ready, you two. Come inside before the roast gets cold."

Audrey took Alexander’s hand, looking back one last time at the snowy darkness outside the window. She thought about the woman who had tumbled down the marble stairs two years ago—abandoned, broken, and helpless. She looked at herself now—a powerful chairperson, a protected wife, a proud mother-in-waiting, and a woman who was truly, deeply loved.

The storm had long since passed, leaving behind a brilliant, beautiful new dawn, and Audrey knew that no matter how cold the world outside could get, her fire would never be put out again.
