Chapter 10 - Legacy of the Rose

Five years later.

The sun was setting over the lake, casting a golden, brilliant glow across the grounds of the Hale Estate.

It was our forty-fifth wedding anniversary.

The grand terrace was once again filled with music, laughter, and family. But this time, there were no phony investors, no greedy corporate schemers, and no dark secrets hidden behind champagne glasses.

Jennifer stood near the orchestra, holding her new baby daughter, laughing as her husband poured juice into glasses.

At the edge of the garden, Trevor was talking animatedly with our head construction manager. Over the last three years, Trevor had worked his way up from an entry-level site laborer at Hale Hospitality to a junior project supervisor. He had earned every single promotion through sweat, dedication, and absolute honesty, earning the genuine respect of his crew and his sister.

I stood beside Catherine at the top of the terrace steps, watching our family thrive under the warm evening sky.

I wrapped my arm around my wife’s waist, pulling her close. She rested her head on my shoulder, holding my hand tightly.

"Look at them, Ray," Catherine said softly, her eyes shining with deep peace. "We almost lost it all."

"We built something strong, Catherine," I reminded her, kissing her temple. "Stronger than greed. Stronger than cruelty."

Elena Cho walked up to us, raising a glass of wine. "To thirty-eight years of building an empire, and forty-five years of keeping it safe."

"To family," I corrected with a smile, raising my glass. "The real kind."

Down in the garden, Trevor looked up at the terrace. He caught his mother’s eye and offered her a small, humble, yet deeply grateful smile.

Catherine smiled back—a warm, radiant smile that illuminated the entire estate.

The mistakes of the past were buried deep beneath the earth, washed away like old mud in the spring rain. And standing in its place was a legacy forged in truth, proven by resilience, and blooming forever like the white roses in our garden.
