Chapter 10 - The Rinaldi Kingdom

One year later. Early summer.

The gardens of the Rinaldi estate were decorated with white roses, silk drapes, and thousands of twinkling fairy lights hung from the ancient oak trees.

Classical violin music drifted through the warm evening air.

In the center of the lawn, under a floral archway overlooking the sparkling waters of Long Island Sound, stood Victor Rinaldi. He wore a sharp black tuxedo, looking noble, powerful, and deeply, unmistakably happy.

Beside him stood his four sons—Marco, Nico, Alessandro, and Tommy—all wearing matching miniature tuxedos, looking polished, handsome, and remarkably well-behaved.

The music shifted to a gentle, beautiful bridal march.

The guests stood up.

Walking down the white carpet was Serena Valente.

She wore a breathtaking ivory lace gown that flowed around her like water, her dark hair styled in elegant waves, holding a bouquet of white peonies. Walking beside her, holding her hand proudly, was eight-year-old Lucia, wearing a matching flower-girl dress.

Victor watched Serena walk toward him, feeling a wave of emotion so profound it brought tears to the eyes of the feared mafia boss.

When Serena reached the archway, Victor took her hand. His touch was warm, solid, and filled with infinite reverence.

"You look breathtaking," Victor whispered.

"You don't look too bad yourself, Don Rinaldi," Serena teased softly, her eyes shining with joy.

The priest began the ceremony, but everyone in attendance already knew the truth: the real vow had been made a year ago in a chaotic kitchen, over a plate of carbonara and a promise to protect a little girl.

"Do you, Victor Rinaldi, take Serena Valente to be your wedded wife, to love and protect, in sickness and in health, for as long as you both shall live?"

"I do," Victor said, his voice ringing out across the gardens with absolute, unshakeable conviction.

"And do you, Serena Valente, take Victor Rinaldi to be your wedded husband?"

"I do," Serena said, smiling through happy tears.

"By the power vested in me, I now pronounce you husband and wife. You may kiss the bride!"

Victor pulled Serena into his arms and kissed her deeply, as the crowd erupted into thunderous applause.

The four quadruplets and Lucia cheered loudly, throwing flower petals into the air.

Later that night, as the party continued on the grand patio, Serena stepped away to stand near the stone balcony, looking out over the illuminated gardens.

Victor walked up behind her, wrapping his arms around her waist, pulling her close against his chest.

"What are you thinking about, Mrs. Rinaldi?" Victor murmured into her ear.

Serena leaned back against him, placing her hand over his. "I was thinking about the night I walked up your front steps in the rain. I had thirty-six dollars in my bank account, a broken shoe, and I was terrified of what the future held."

Victor smiled, kissing the soft spot behind her ear. "And now?"

Serena turned in his arms, looking up into the eyes of her husband—the man who had given her a fortress, a family, and a love that would last a lifetime.

"Now," Serena whispered softly, "I have everything."

In the garden below, the five children were chasing fireflies, their bright, wild laughter echoing into the starry night—a sweet, permanent song of a home that was finally whole.
