Chapter 9 - Protocol Delta

In the grand study of the Rinaldi estate, six-year-old Tommy stood on a stool in front of the heavy mahogany bookshelf.

He reached up, pressed his small hand against the hidden biometric scanner hidden behind a leather-bound edition of The Count of Monte Cristo, and entered a six-digit code.

CLICK.

The entire bookshelf swung open, revealing a hidden master security bunker equipped with satellite command screens, private drone controls, and direct encrypted feeds to the New York Police Commissioner’s private office.

Tommy looked at Serena, his small face completely serious. "Dad built this when Mom died. He taught me how to use the satellite override."

Serena stared in shock as the quietest six-year-old in New York tapped rapidly on a touch screen, initiating a secondary security protocol.

On the screen, a real-time thermal feed of the Queens warehouse appeared.

"Nico," Tommy called out into his headset. "Deploy the remote escort."

In the estate garage, automated doors slid open. Four heavy, black, armored, uncrewed tactical support vehicles—customized by Rinaldi security—launched out of the driveway, tearing down the highway toward Queens at one hundred and twenty miles per hour, guided by automated GPS positioning.

Meanwhile, back in the warehouse, Victor was down to his last magazine. Frankie had taken a shrapnel hit to his shoulder.

"Five seconds, Boss!" Frankie yelled.

Suddenly, the heavy metal roof of the warehouse was torn open from the outside by high-powered thermal charges!

BOOM!

Four heavy tactical drones descended through the smoke, flashing blinding strobe lights and deploying non-lethal sonic cannons that instantly incapacitated Moretti’s snipers on the catwalks.

Outside, the heavy armored support vehicles smashed through the welded warehouse doors, breaching the perimeter and providing a wall of steel cover.

Victor stepped out from behind the pillar, his weapon raised, advancing through the smoke like an unstoppable force of nature.

Dominic Moretti, cowering behind his bulletproof glass, watched in utter horror as his entire strike team was neutralized in ninety seconds by automated tactical precision.

Victor walked up to the glass barrier. He pulled a remote detonator from his pocket and pressed the override code.

The bulletproof glass dropped into the floor.

Victor stood before the trembling, aged Don.

"Your era is over, Moretti," Victor said quietly.

Two minutes later, federal tactical units—alerted directly by Tommy through the bunker's police commissioner override—swarmed the building, placing Moretti and his surviving men under federal arrest for domestic terrorism and organized extortion.
