Chapter 10 - The Unbroken Thread

The evening brought a warm, orange twilight over the estate.

The young students had gone home, leaving the garden quiet and serene. Victoria, Anna, and Lily walked down the cobblestone path toward the old conservatory—now fully restored, its glass dome glittering under the setting sun like a crown of diamonds.

Inside, where the bronze statue of the lyre player stood, a new marble plaque had been installed at the base.

It read:

Dedicated to Arthur Sterling, and to the strength of those who refuse to be silenced. The song remains unbroken.

Anna leaned against her sister’s shoulder, looking at the inscription. "Do you think Papa would be proud of us, Tori?"

Victoria wrapped her arm around Anna’s waist, while Lily hugged her from the other side.

"Papa always said that music is the only thing strong enough to cut through the darkest lie," Victoria murmured, pulling them both close. "He’s listening right now, Anna. And he’s smiling."

Lily pulled the tarnished silver locket from beneath her sweater. She popped it open, looking at the tiny photograph of Victoria and Anna as young girls standing beside the piano.

She took a small golden chain from her pocket and attached a second, smaller silver locket beside the first—a locket containing a picture of the three of them standing together in the sunlight of the restored estate.

"We need a new song now," Lily said, looking up at her mother and aunt with bright, fearless eyes. "One about coming home."

Anna smiled, wiping a tear of pure joy from her cheek. "Then let’s go write it, my darling. Together."

As the stars began to appear in the darkening sky above the glass dome, the three of them walked back toward the house, their shadows blending into one, bound together by a love that no billionaire could buy, no lie could hide, and no darkness could ever extinguish.
