Chapter 9 - The Song Reborn

Two years later.
The spring sun shone brightly over the lush, green lawns of the Sterling Estate. The wild overgrown gardens had been restored, filled with blooming white roses, lavender, and ancient oak trees.
A large grand piano sat under the shade of a white pavilion built in the center of the garden.
Anna sat at the piano bench. She was still thin, and she used a cane to walk, but her skin was warm and full of life, her golden hair having grown back into soft, glowing waves. Her fingers danced across the ivory keys, playing the familiar, beautiful opening notes of their father’s song.
Beside her stood Lily, now fourteen years old, holding a brilliant polished silver flute—a gift from her aunt on her birthday.
Lily raised the flute to her lips, joining her mother’s melody. The music soared through the garden, rich, vibrant, and completely free of grief.
Victoria sat on a nearby bench, sipping tea with Julian. Across the lawn, a group of children from the local music foundation—a charity Victoria and Anna had founded using the reclaimed family fortune—were laughing and running through the grass.
"The federal court finalized the last liquidation of Vale Enterprises today," Julian said, setting his cup down. "Every family harmed by his illegal medical clinics has received full financial compensation. The Sterling Trust is completely clear."
Victoria looked over at her sister and niece, a deep sense of peace filling her soul. "It was never about the money, Julian. It was about giving them back their voice."
"And what about you, Victoria?" Julian asked softly, reaching out to place his hand over hers. "What are you going to do now?"

Victoria looked down at their joined hands, then up at the clear, boundless blue sky.
"I’m going to listen to the music," she said with a soft, radiant smile.
