Chapter 7 - The Final Judgment

Dominic prepared to hurl the grenade toward the safe room where the infants were hidden.
In a split second, Alessandro launched himself across the corridor. He tackled Dominic to the ground, driving a brutal elbow into his jaw. The grenade slipped from Dominic's fingers, rolling down the stone balcony steps.
BOOM!
The explosion tore through the lower staircase, sending marble fragments flying through the air. The shockwave threw Dominic hard against the wall, coughing up blood.
Alessandro stood up slowly, dusting off his sleeves. He stepped over the rubble and stood directly above his uncle.
"I gave you dozens of chances over the years, Uncle Dominic," Alessandro said, his voice dropping to a icy whisper. "But you targeted my wife and my daughter. That was your final mistake."
BANG.
A single shot put an end to the traitor’s life. The bloody coup was over.
Without Dominic's leadership, the remaining Moretti mercenaries quickly surrendered or fled the estate. The Romano guards re-established absolute control over the perimeter.

Alessandro breached the safe room door. Dr. Ricci let out a long sigh of relief, handing a safe and sound baby Lily over to him. Little Emma ran forward, wrapping her arms around Alessandro’s leg.
Alessandro held his daughter tightly against his chest and looked down at Emma. "It's done. Your mother is waiting outside."
