Chapter 8 - Shadows Fade

Three weeks later.

Warm spring sunlight poured through the floor-to-ceiling windows of the newly restored Romano estate. The air, once thick with tension and gunpowder, was now filled with the sweet scent of fresh roses and the sound of children laughing.

Elena Vance had made a full recovery under Dr. Ricci’s care. She sat on a wooden bench in the manicured garden, smiling as she watched Emma chase a golden retriever puppy across the lawn.

Alessandro walked out onto the patio, holding a leather-bound folder. He sat down beside Elena.

"Elena," Alessandro spoke with genuine warmth. "What you did for Isabella and Lily... the Romano family can never repay you. This folder contains the deed to a waterfront home in Miami and a trust fund valued at ten million dollars. You and Emma are free to start a new, safe life."

Elena’s eyes welled with tears. She shook her head. "Don Alessandro... I didn't do it for money. Isabella treated me like a sister when we were trapped in that terrible place. I just wanted to save her baby."

"I know," Alessandro offered a soft, genuine smile—a rare sight the family had seldom seen from their formidable Don. "Which is why you deserve this peace more than anyone. Emma will attend the best schools. You will always have the protection of my family."

Across the lawn, Isabella stepped out onto the grass wearing a simple white dress. She held baby Lily in her arms. The baby had grown chubby and healthy, gurgling happily as she caught sight of her father.

Alessandro stood up and walked toward his wife and daughter.
