Chapter 9 - The New Foundation

Six weeks after the trial ended, a grand press conference was held at the historic National Museum of Art in Coyoacán.

Reporters from every major news network gathered in the courtyard as Alejandro and Valeria stood before a podium, flanked by representatives from Mexico City’s leading social advocacy organizations.

Behind them hung a newly restored masterwork painting that Valeria had personally finished restoring—a vibrant, beautiful canvas depicting hope rising from darkness.

Alejandro stepped up to the microphone, pulling Valeria close to his side.

"Today, Aranda Real Estate is officially launching the Fernando Sandoval Foundation," Alejandro announced, his voice echoing warmly through the courtyard. "Named in honor of my late father-in-law, a man of complete integrity who was wrongfully accused by those in power."

The crowd applauded warmly.

"Our foundation will dedicate fifty million dollars toward providing free legal representation, medical care, and secure housing for victims of domestic abuse and corporate exploitation across Mexico," Alejandro continued, looking proudly at his wife. "And I am proud to announce that my wife, Valeria Sandoval de Aranda, will serve as the foundation's lifelong President."

Valeria stepped up to the microphone, tears of joy sparkling in her eyes.

"To every woman who has ever been forced into silence," Valeria said softly, her voice carrying deep emotional power, "to every person who feels trapped behind gilded walls... know that your voice matters. Truth is stronger than fear, and light will always break through the dark."

After the press conference, as guests gathered for refreshments, Alejandro took Valeria by the hand and led her to a quiet balcony overlooking the garden.

"How are you feeling, President Sandoval?" Alejandro teased softly, wrapping his arms around her waist from behind.

"I feel free, Alejandro," she smiled, leaning back against his chest. "For the first time in two years... I am completely, wonderfully free."

Suddenly, Valeria gasped, holding her hand over her belly.

Alejandro panicked instantly. "What is it?! Is it a contraction?! Mateo! Call Mateo!"

Valeria laughed warmly, catching his hand and placing it against her stomach. "Relax, papa. He’s just kicking. I think he approves of his mother’s new job."

Alejandro felt the strong, energetic kick of his unborn son against his palm. He closed his eyes, letting out a soft laugh of pure, overwhelming gratitude.
