Chapter 6 - The Fall of Vincent

The ambush at the inn was the final straw. Dominic realized that as long as Vincent and his faction existed, Clara and the twins would never be safe, whether they lived in Maine, Boston, or anywhere else in the world.

Leaving Marco with a dozen men to protect the cabin where Clara was hiding, Dominic returned to Boston for forty-eight hours. It was time to clean house.

He called an emergency meeting of the Romano family council at their historic estate in Back Bay. Vincent sat at the long table, trying to look nonchalant, surrounded by his own loyal captains.

"Dominic," Vincent smiled, leaning back. "We heard there was some trouble up in Maine. You really shouldn't be chasing ghosts when the shipping union votes are falling apart here."

Dominic didn't say a word. He walked to the head of the table and threw a heavy digital drive onto the wood. The projector screen behind him illuminated, displaying five years of financial transactions, wiretaps, and taped confessions from Vincent's own men, detailing his cooperation with rival families to dismantle the Romano empire.

"You thought I was distracted, Vincent," Dominic said, his voice echoing in the grand room. "But a wounded animal is the most dangerous. I allowed you to think you were winning so you would get sloppy. I needed every single name on your payroll."

The other captains at the table stood up, drawing their weapons—but they didn't aim at Dominic. They aimed them straight at Vincent. They realized Vincent had betrayed the family protocol.

"Dominic, wait!" Vincent panicked, his chair knocking over as he stood up. "We can make a deal!"

"The Romano family doesn't deal with rats," Dominic said, turning his back as his enforcers moved in to clear the room.
