Chapter 8 - Exposing the Viper

The screens displayed a mountain of undeniable, catastrophic evidence. Financial ledger sheets, encrypted bank routing numbers, and decoded communications flashed before the stunned eyes of the board members.

"What is the meaning of this?" the lead board member demanded, leaning forward to inspect the data.

"This is the reality of Julian Vance’s 'modern leadership,'" Garrett announced, his voice echoing with absolute authority. "For the past eighteen months, Julian has been systematically embezzling corporate funds—totaling over forty-two million dollars—and funneled them into offshore accounts owned by The Obsidian Group, a hostile corporate espionage syndicate."

The boardroom erupted into a chaotic frenzy of shouting and gasps. Julian’s face went entirely white, beads of sweat breaking out across his forehead. "This is a fabrication! A desperate frame job by a low-level thug!"

"We also traced the digital signatures of the security breaches that compromised Ms. Vance’s schedules," Garrett continued, shifting to the next slide, which displayed a recorded audio file. "And last night, Julian hired contract criminals to stake out my home and attempt to kidnap my nine-year-old daughter to use as leverage to force this vote."

Garrett pressed play. Julian’s own voice echoed clearly through the boardroom speakers: 'Is it done? Did you secure the leverage on Holloway? We need him out of the picture before tomorrow’s board meeting.'

The silence that followed was absolute, heavy with the weight of complete and utter ruin.

Eleanor stood up slowly, her cane clicking with a terrifying finality against the floor. She looked at her nephew, her eyes filled not with anger, but with a profound, freezing disappointment.

"You were my brother's son, Julian. I gave you everything. I tried to teach you what it means to lead with honor," Eleanor said, her voice shaking slightly but remaining incredibly powerful. "But you chose greed. You chose cowardice. And you dared to threaten a child."

She turned toward the double doors of the boardroom. "Garrett, open the doors."

Garrett nodded, signaling the guards. The heavy doors swung open, revealing four federal agents from the financial crimes and kidnapping divisions, standing waiting with handcuffs gleaming in the fluorescent light.

"Julian Vance, you are under arrest for corporate fraud, embezzlement, and conspiracy to commit kidnapping," the lead agent announced, walking into the room.

Julian collapsed back into his chair, his hands shaking violently as the agents pulled him up and clicked the handcuffs around his wrists. As he was led out of the boardroom in complete disgrace, he didn't dare look at his aunt, nor at the man who had completely dismantled his empire in less than a week.
