Chapter 10 - The Golden Future

The grand celebration lasted long into the night, but as midnight approached, the mansion returned to a peaceful, serene quiet.

Out on the grand eastern terrace overlooking the sprawling gardens and the moonlit lake, the cool summer breeze rustled softly through the ancient oak trees.

Julian stood by the stone balustrade, holding a glass of sparkling water, enjoying the tranquil beauty of the night.

Clara walked out through the french doors, wrapping a soft cashmere shawl around her shoulders. She stepped up beside him, leaning her head gently against his shoulder.

"She’s fast asleep," Clara whispered softly, a happy smile resting on her lips. "She insisted on keeping her golden button pinned to her pajama top."

Julian let out a warm, low laugh, wrapping his arm around Clara’s waist and pulling her close against his side. "I don't think she'll ever take it off."

"Thank you, Julian," Clara said, looking up into his eyes, her hazel eyes reflecting the starlight above. "For saving us. For giving her a life where she never has to be afraid again."

"You saved her first, Clara," Julian answered gently, leaning down to press a soft kiss against her forehead. "You gave her a mother's love when she had nothing. I just helped bring her home."

Down the terrace path, Lady Margaret walked out, leaning comfortably on her mahogany cane, watching the two of them with a warm, contented expression.

"It’s a beautiful night, isn't it?" Lady Margaret said softly, joining them at the railing.

"It is, Mother," Julian smiled, using the warm title he had naturally come to call the matriarch over the past two years.

In the second-floor bedroom above the terrace, the warm night light glowed gently against the windowpane.

Inside the room, little Beatrice lay tucked beneath a soft feather duvet, her breathing slow and peaceful, her small hand resting comfortably over the golden button pinned over her heart.

The evil that had once sought to destroy her was gone forever, locked away behind cold iron bars. The lies that had shrouded her birth had been shattered by the light of truth.

She was no longer the forgotten orphan in a rainstorm. She was no longer the little girl hiding in a diner.
