Chapter 7 - The Trial of the Heart

Julia stared at the black velvet box in Caleb’s hand, her breath catching in her throat.
"Caleb..." she whispered, her hands trembling. "What is this?"
Caleb opened the box. Inside lay a delicate gold ring adorned with a brilliant, flawless blue sapphire surrounded by tiny diamonds.
"This belonged to my grandmother," Caleb said softly, his gray eyes shining with absolute sincerity. "She gave it to my grandfather when he built his first company from nothing. She told him it was a reminder that true strength isn't built on money or land—it's built on love, faith, and the courage to fight for what matters."
He looked up at Julia, his voice deep and rough with emotion.
"Three months ago, you walked into this house with a mop and a bucket," Caleb said. "You had every reason to be bitter. You had every reason to hide from the world. But instead, you looked at my broken boy, and you gave him his life back. And in doing so... you gave me mine."
Landon squeezed Julia’s hand tight, beaming up at her with a huge, joy-filled smile. "Say yes, Julia! Please say yes!"
Tears spilled over Julia’s eyelashes, running down her cheeks like liquid diamonds. She looked at the ring, then at Landon, and finally at Caleb—the man who had stood between her and the entire world, ready to burn his empire to the ground just to keep her safe.

"Yes," Julia sobbed happily, dropping to her knees on the marble floor and throwing her arms around Caleb’s neck. "Yes! A thousand times yes!"
Caleb wrapped his strong arms around her, pulling her close, burying his face in her neck as he laughed with pure, boundless joy. Landon threw his arms around both of them, and for the first time in three long, painful years, the Donovan family was whole again.
