Chapter 7 - The Boardroom Siege

The forty-fourth floor of Whitmore Tower was bathed in luxurious natural sunlight pouring through floor-to-ceiling glass windows. Twelve board members sat around an oval mahogany table, sipping espresso and quietly discussing the legal takeover of the company.

At the head of the table sat Richard Sterling, a silver-haired man of sixty with cold, calculating eyes.

"We have the proxy votes," Sterling said smoothly, tapping his pen against his pad. "With Chester absent and Vanessa unaccounted for, we can legally invoke Clause 14. We declare her mentally incapable of managing corporate assets due to her daughter's chronic disability—"

The heavy double glass doors of the boardroom swung open with a sharp click.

Vanessa Whitmore walked into the room.

She didn't hurry. She walked with the absolute, unyielding grace of an empress entering her court. Behind her walked two security guards in plain dark suits—Jaxson's men disguised in corporate uniforms.

The entire boardroom fell dead silent.

Sterling’s pen stopped mid-air. His face flushed with momentary surprise before he quickly forced a smooth, patronizing smile.

"Vanessa!" Sterling exclaimed, standing up. "We were worried about you! After the unfortunate drama at the gala last night—"

"Save it, Richard," Vanessa said, walking to the foot of the table and resting her hands flat on the polished wood. "I know about the proxy votes. And I know about Clause 14."

A few board members shifted uncomfortably in their leather chairs.

"Vanessa, please, let us be reasonable," one older board member pleaded softly. "Your daughter's health is a tragedy, but the company cannot operate without a clear CEO—"

"My daughter’s health is no longer a tragedy," Vanessa interrupted, her voice echoing off the glass walls like a trumpet call. "Layla is sitting at home right now, listening to music and playing with her new friend. Her hearing was restored last night."

Gasps rippled through the room.

Sterling’s eyes narrowed into dangerous slits. "Restored? What nonsense is this? She has been profoundly deaf for six years—"

"She was never deaf, Richard," Vanessa said coldly, looking him directly in the eye. "She had a military signal jammer implanted in her auditory canal by Dr. Samuel Vance, funded by Vanguard Armaments, and authorized by Chester Aldrich."

Sterling’s face turned gray. "You... you are hysterical! Security! Escort Ms. Whitmore out of this—"

BOOM!

A deafening explosion rocked the ceiling above the boardroom!

Dust and shattered drywall rained down onto the mahogany table as the central air vent burst open. Two dark figures dropped down from the ceiling like shadows, landing flawlessly on the polished floor.

Jaxson Drake stood up, clad in full black tactical armor, holding a silenced submachine gun in his hands. Beside him, Leo Vance carried a black tactical hard-drive case plugged into an encrypted tablet.

The boardroom erupted into frantic screams as several board members scrambled out of their chairs!

"Nobody move!" Jaxson’s voice boomed through the room—a voice so filled with absolute, lethal authority that every single person froze in place.

Jaxson didn't fire a single shot. He stepped beside Vanessa, his massive armored presence turning her from a lone corporate executive into an untouchable monarch.

"Connect the drive, Leo," Jaxson commanded sharply.

Leo stepped to the main projection console and plugged the hard drive directly into the building's central server feed.

Instantly, the massive seventy-inch digital displays surrounding the boardroom flickered to life.

Video files began playing automatically: Chester Aldrich in a dark room, tearfully confessing to the money laundering, the plane crash sabotages, and the acoustic jammer implants. Financial ledgers flashed across the screens, highlighting every illegal wire transfer from Vanguard Armaments to Richard Sterling’s private offshore accounts in Switzerland.

The board members stared at the screens in absolute horror. Two of them turned to glare at Sterling with pure disgust.

"This... this is fake! It's an illegal breach!" Sterling shrieked, backing away toward the window. "Call the federal marshals!"

"They're already downstairs, Richard," Vanessa said softly, pulling a thick legal folder from her briefcase and setting it on the table. "Federal agents are currently raiding Vanguard Armaments headquarters in Virginia. General Vance was arrested twenty minutes ago."

She looked around the room at the twelve terrified board members.

"As of this moment," Vanessa announced, her voice ringing with absolute triumph, "Richard Sterling, Chester Aldrich, and Samuel Vance are stripped of all board positions, voting rights, and corporate stock. Effective immediately, I am absorbing their shares back into the Whitmore Foundation."

Jaxson stepped forward, resting one heavy, armored hand on the back of Vanessa’s chair. He glared at the remaining board members with eyes that promised complete annihilation to anyone who dared challenge her.

"Any objections?" Jaxson asked low.

Not a single person spoke.
