Chapter 10 - The Horizon

Ten years had passed since the day in the NICU.
I stood on the balcony of the estate, watching the twins—now healthy, vibrant, and intelligent teenagers—playing on the lawn with their friends.
The past was a blur, a distant, faded memory. Weston was still in prison, a man who had long since been forgotten by the world he had tried so hard to conquer. Ashley was somewhere else, likely continuing her pattern of manipulation and betrayal.
But here, at the Sterling Estate, there was only life.
My grandfather sat in his chair nearby, a soft blanket over his legs, his eyes watching his great-grandchildren with a contentment that had taken a lifetime to earn.
"They have your eyes, Jade," he said.
"They have your strength," I replied.
