Chapter 10 - The End of the Storm

Ten years later.

The sprawling lawns of the Moretti estate were alive with the bright, joyous sounds of music, laughter, and running footsteps.

It was a warm Saturday afternoon in late June, and the gardens were transformed into a breathtaking wonderland of white roses, twinkling fairy lights, and cheerful guests. But unlike the dark, intimidating gatherings of Adrien’s past, today’s event was filled with laughter, sunlight, and genuine joy.

Today was Elena and Adrien’s wedding day.

Though they had shared a home and a life for a decade, building an unbreakable family from the ashes of deception and fear, they had decided it was time to make it official—surrounded not by business associates or criminal syndicates, but by the people who truly mattered.

Standing near the floral altar at the head of the garden was Adrien. He looked every bit the powerful patriarch in a sharp, custom-tailored obsidian tuxedo, but the cold, hardened edge that had once defined his eyes was entirely gone, replaced by a radiant, profound warmth.

Down the garden path, the wedding march began to play softly through hidden speakers.

First came the three triplets—now tall, bright, twelve-year-old pre-teens carrying baskets of rose petals and laughing as they scattered them along the grass.

Then came fourteen-year-old Sophie.

She wore a graceful, flowing ivory dress, her hair braided with delicate white ribbons. In her hands, she didn't carry a traditional bridal bouquet. Instead, tucked neatly into the crook of her arm, was a small, meticulously preserved cloth doll with a faded dress and a stitched-on smile—a cherished reminder of the stormy midnight night that had changed their lives forever.

And walking right beside Sophie, holding her hand with a proud, protective smile, was Elena.

She looked breathtaking in a minimalist lace gown that caught the afternoon sunlight, her dark eyes shining with tears of pure, unadulterated happiness as she locked eyes with the man waiting for her at the end of the aisle.

Adrien felt his throat tighten. A wave of profound gratitude washed over him. He thought back to the dark, terrifying night ten years ago when his children had screamed in the nursery, when fear had ruled his world, and when a little girl with a battered doll had walked in to save them all.

Elena reached the altar, releasing Sophie’s hand as the young girl joined her siblings in the front row.

Adrien stepped forward, taking Elena’s soft hands in his own.

"You look stunning," Adrien murmured, his voice thick with emotion.

"You clean up alright yourself, Boss," Elena whispered back with a playful smile.

The officiant—a kind, elderly judge who had known the family for years—smiled warmly out over the small, gathered crowd of trusted friends and loved ones.

"We are gathered here today," the judge began, his voice carrying clearly across the quiet garden, "not to celebrate the beginning of a family, but to honor a family that was forged in fire, tested by darkness, and anchored by an unbreakable, unconditional love."

As the ceremony continued, Adrien looked down at the woman standing before him, and then out toward his children laughing brightly in the sunshine. The past was gone, buried beneath years of healing, peace, and unwavering protection.

The storm had finally ended. And they had won.
