Chapter 9 - The Legacy Restored

Two years later.
Diego Mendoza was appointed as a federal judge for the central region of Mexico—a position that made him one of the most powerful legal minds in the country. But despite his prestige, he never missed a Sunday dinner at the farmhouse in San Miguel.
He walked down the hallway, carrying a small leather briefcase. He turned the corner into the patio, stopping to watch a beautiful scene.
Elena was sitting on the stone bench, holding a beautiful, six-month-old baby girl with dark eyes and thick, black hair—little Teresa, named after her grandmother. Teresa senior was sitting in her chair nearby, holding a small silver rattle, her laughter soft and musical as the baby smiled.
Arthur was busy working on a massive new flower bed near the gate, planting rows of vibrant purple orchids that caught the afternoon light.
