Chapter 6 - The Riverfront Trap

At 11:45 PM, heavy rain lashed against the rusted steel roof of Warehouse 14 along the Chicago River.
Victor Romano stood inside, surrounded by twelve heavily armed men holding automatic rifles. He checked his gold watch, impatient and arrogant.
The side door creaked open.
Cassian stumbled inside, his face bruised, his clothes disheveled, holding a black leather briefcase.
"You're late, Cassian," Victor sneered, stepping forward. "Do you have the security codes for the Moretti estate?"
"I... I have them, Victor," Cassian stammered, his voice shaking violently. "But... there's a problem."
"What problem?" Victor’s eyes narrowed as he reached for his weapon.
"The problem," a deep, thunderous voice echoed from the dark rafters above, "is that you trusted a rat."
BOOM!
The warehouse's glass skylights shattered into a million pieces as tactical flashbang grenades dropped from the ceiling, exploding in blinding flashes of white light and deafening sound.
Moretti soldiers dropped down on ropes, opening fire with precision.
Chaos erupted. Victor’s men were disarmed and neutralized within seconds. Victor himself dropped to his knees, his gun knocked away, staring in absolute terror as Alessandro Moretti walked out from the shadows, holding a heavy pistol.
Alessandro walked up to Victor, looking down at him with cold disdain.
"You tried to poison a mother in my house, Victor," Alessandro said softly. "You used a coward to fight your war."

"Alessandro... wait! We can make a deal!" Victor begged, raising his hands. "It was Cassian’s idea! He came to me!"
"In my house," Alessandro replied, racking the slide of his pistol, "we don't make deals with monsters."
