Chapter 8 - A New Declaration

Sophia stood up from her chair, looking at Alessandro with hesitation.
"Mr. Moretti... the doctor says I am fully recovered," Sophia said softly. "I... I should get back to my duties. The laundry downstairs—"
Alessandro held up his hand, cutting her off gently.
"Sophia, you are never going back to that basement," Alessandro said firmly.
Sophia blinked, confusion crossing her face. "What do you mean? Am I... are you firing me?"
"Firing you?" Alessandro smiled, stepping closer to her, still holding Emma in his arm. "Sophia, you and your daughter saved my life. If Emma hadn't stood up on that chair to iron my shirt... if she hadn't whispered the truth to me... I would still be surrounded by traitors. My empire would have collapsed from the inside."
He reached out, taking Sophia's soft hand in his.
"From today onward, you are not a maid in this house," Alessandro declared softly. "You are the head of the Moretti Charitable Foundation. I am transferring fifty million dollars into a trust under your name to fund shelters, medical care, and education for working-class mothers and children across this city."

Sophia gasped, covering her mouth with her hands as tears of joy spilled over her eyelashes. "Alessandro... I... I don't know what to say..."
"Say you'll accept," Alessandro whispered, his eyes filled with a tenderness he could no longer hide. "And say you'll stay here... with me."
