Chapter 10 - A Dynasty Born of Light

Three years later.
The summer sun shone brilliantly over the private beach of the Moretti estate. The calm blue waves of Lake Michigan lapped softly against the golden sand.
On the beach, a small wooden castle stood decorated with colorful plastic flags.
A adorable three-year-old boy with thick dark hair and bright storm-grey eyes—little Leo Moretti—was happily digging in the sand with a plastic shovel, laughing joyfully.
Sitting on a plush striped lounge chair nearby was Clara. She wore a breezy white linen sundress, her blond hair tied back in a loose braid, her skin glowing with radiant happiness. In her lap lay a two-month-old baby girl—little Sofia—sleeping peacefully wrapped in a soft pink blanket.
Footsteps sounded on the sand.
Vincent walked down from the stone terrace, wearing a casual navy linen shirt and dark trousers, his sleeves rolled up, looking relaxed, incredibly handsome, and at complete peace.
He walked over to his son first, crouching down on the sand.
“Are we building a fortress, Leo?” Vincent asked, his deep voice full of warmth.
“Yes, Daddy!” little Leo giggled, holding up his bucket. “A big fortress so no bad guys can get in!”
Vincent chuckled softly, ruffling his son’s hair with deep affection. “Good boy. Always protect the family.”
Vincent stood up and walked over to Clara’s chair. He leaned down, pressing a soft, tender kiss to her lips before turning his gaze to his sleeping baby daughter in her arms.
He sat on the edge of her lounger, wrapping his arm around Clara’s waist, pulling her close against his side.
“How are my girls doing?” Vincent murmured, kissing Clara’s temple.
“We are perfect,” Clara smiled softly, resting her head against his broad shoulder, listening to the calm, steady beat of his heart.
She looked out over the sparkling blue lake, watching their son laugh as he chased a beach ball along the shore.
Four years ago, she had been a terrified, broken woman crying alone in a cold archive, believing her life was ruined forever. Today, she was the beloved Matriarch of the most powerful family in Chicago, surrounded by an impenetrable shield of love, absolute devotion, and boundless joy.
