Chapter 9 - The Dawn After the Storm

Six months later.

The crisp autumn air swept through the gardens of the Moretti estate, turning the oak trees into vibrant shades of gold, orange, and crimson.

The grand stone mansion was decorated with hundreds of white roses, crystal arches, and soft velvet carpets. It was the day of Vincent and Clara’s wedding—a private, ultra-secure celebration attended by close friends, loyal associates, and trusted staff.

In the bridal suite, Clara stood before the mirror, wearing a magnificent A-line lace gown designed in Milan. The delicate fabric draped beautifully over her glowing seven-month pregnant belly. She looked like a vision of pure elegance, health, and radiant motherhood.

Mrs. Gable stood behind her, adjusting the long lace veil with tears of joy in her eyes.

“You look like an angel, my dear,” Mrs. Gable whispered.

“Thank you, Mrs. Gable,” Clara smiled, resting her hands lovingly over her bump. She felt a soft, strong kick from inside—a tiny reminder of the healthy baby boy they were expecting in eight weeks.

A knock sounded at the door, and Marco—dressed in a crisp tuxedo, looking remarkably handsome without his usual tactical gear—stepped inside.

“It’s time, Bride,” Marco smiled warmly, offering her his arm. “The Don is waiting.”

Clara took Marco’s arm, and together they walked down the grand marble staircase to the garden terrace overlooking the lake.

The string quartet played a sweeping, romantic symphony as Clara stepped out onto the white aisle.

Standing at the altar under a grand arch of white roses stood Vincent.

He wore a tailored black tuxedo, looking impossibly broad, handsome, and commanding. But as his eyes locked onto Clara, the ruthless mob king vanished completely. His dark eyes filled with raw, breathtaking love and tears he didn't bother to hide.

When Clara reached the altar, Vincent stepped forward, taking both of her hands in his.

The priest began the ceremony, but when it came time for the vows, Vincent looked directly into Clara’s eyes, his voice steady, deep, and full of absolute devotion.

“Clara,” Vincent said, his thumb gently stroking her fingers. “Four years ago, you walked into my office and brought order to my chaotic world. Six months ago, I promised that no enemy would ever touch you again. Today, I promise to spend every breath I have making sure you and our son know only peace, joy, and unconditional love. My empire is yours. My heart is yours. My life is yours, forever.”

Clara wiped a tear from her cheek, smiling radiantly as she spoke her vows.

“Vincent,” she whispered, her voice clear and beautiful. “You pulled me out of the darkest storm of my life and built a sanctuary around my heart. You showed me what true strength, true honor, and true love really mean. I give you my heart, my devotion, and my life, today and for all the tomorrows to come.”

“By the power vested in me,” the priest declared with a warm smile, “I now pronounce you husband and wife. Vincent, you may kiss your bride.”

Vincent pulled Clara gently into his arms, minding her pregnant belly, and pressed his lips to hers in a deep, passionate, reverent kiss that brought roaring applause and cheers from the guests!
