Chapter 10 - A Sunshine Legacy
Two years later.
The Vance Manor was bathed in the brilliant, golden sunlight of a warm summer afternoon. The heavy iron gates that once looked like prison bars were now permanently kept open, surrounded by vibrant flower beds of blooming white roses and yellow sunflowers.
Laughter echoed across the vast emerald lawn.
Eleven-year-old Isabella was running through the sprinklers, chasing five-year-old Emma, whose squeals of pure delight rang out through the clear air. Sitting on a wicker sofa on the sunlit veranda were Sophia and Viktor.
Sophia wore a simple, elegant ivory sundress, her hand resting comfortably in Viktor’s lap. On her finger sparkled a modest, beautiful diamond ring. Viktor, dressed in a casual linen shirt with his sleeves rolled up, watched the girls with a warm, contented smile—a look that would have rendered his former criminal associates utterly speechless.
"Father! Look!" Isabella called out, running up the veranda stairs, her hair soaking wet, holding a large piece of heavy watercolor paper.
Emma puffed behind her, breathlessly taking her seat on Viktor's knee. "We drew it together!"
Viktor took the painting. It was a beautiful watercolor landscape of the mansion. The dark stone walls were painted in bright, vibrant colors, and in the sky above the house was a massive, radiant sun with disproportionately long, golden rays—drawn exactly the way Emma had drawn it years ago, and exactly the way Elena used to paint them.
"It's breathtaking, girls," Viktor said, his voice full of pride. He pulled both Isabella and Emma into a warm hug, kissing the tops of their heads.
