Chapter 10 - A Home Sewn with Love

Three months later.
The morning sun shone brightly through the tall windows of the fully restored Bolaro estate. The dark, gloomy atmosphere that had once defined the mansion was gone, replaced by the warm scents of fresh flowers, baking pastry, and the cheerful laughter of a child.
Julian’s syndicate faction had been completely dismantled, its corrupt members arrested or banished from the city. The evidence found in Clara’s secret account had cleared the family estate of all remaining threats, establishing absolute peace within the region.
In the nursery, Sophia was sitting on a plush rug, playing happily with a set of wooden building blocks. Wrapped neatly around her shoulders was her favorite pink blanket—now fully restored, cleaned, and stitched with strong, beautifully embroidered gold stars along the border.
Hannah sat on the floor beside her, helping her build a tall castle. Hannah no longer wore the simple grey maid’s uniform. She wore an elegant cream-colored dress, her hair pinned up softly. She was no longer just the laundry worker—she was the official manager of the Bolaro Estate and Sophia’s personal guardian.
A gentle knock sounded at the open doorway.
Nico stepped into the room. He was dressed in a tailored navy suit, looking relaxed and younger, the cold, distant aura that had once defined him completely replaced by warmth whenever he looked into the room.
"Daddy!" Sophia squealed, jumping up and running into his arms.
Nico lifted his daughter high into the air, making her giggle, before setting her down gently. "How is the castle coming along?"
"Hannah built the biggest tower!" Sophia declared proudly, pointing to the wooden structure. "And look! She fixed my blanket with gold thread!"
Nico walked over to Hannah, looking down at the pink fleece resting on the rug. He reached down, taking Hannah’s hand and helping her stand up.
"Gold thread," Nico murmured, his dark eyes holding Hannah’s gaze with deep tenderness. "A fitting repair for something that saved this family."
"It’s just cotton and silk, Nico," Hannah said softly, a gentle blush rising to her cheeks.
"No," Nico corrected gently, his thumb tracing the back of her hand. "It was your dedication, Hannah. You saw what everyone else was too blind or too arrogant to notice. You protected my daughter when I wasn't there to see the danger. You gave this house a heart again."
He reached into his jacket pocket and pulled out a small velvet box, opening it to reveal a simple, stunning diamond ring crafted in the shape of a subtle, interwoven star pattern—matching the embroidery on Sophia’s blanket.
Hannah gasped, her breath catching in her throat. "Nico..."
"When you first came here three months ago," Nico said, his voice rich with sincere emotion, "you said you were looking for something steady—a place to build a real life. I don't just want you to manage this house, Hannah. I want you to share it with us. As my wife. As Sophia’s mother."
Sophia ran over, wrapping her arms around both of their legs, looking up with wide, hopeful eyes. "Please say yes, Hannah! Please stay forever!"
Tears of pure happiness welled up in Hannah’s eyes. She looked at the little girl who had stolen her heart, and then at the man who had protected her and trusted her when no one else would.
"Yes," Hannah whispered, smiling through her tears. "Yes, I’ll stay."

Nico slipped the ring onto her finger, pulling her into a warm, fierce embrace, kissing her gently as Sophia cheered and wrapped her pink blanket tightly around all three of them.
The little maid who had once been mocked and blamed had found more than just a secret patch inside a child's blanket—she had found a family, a true home, and a love that would burn brightly and safely for the rest of her life.
