Chapter 10 - The Foundation of Forever

Six months later, the mountains north of the city were blazing with the brilliant crimson and gold of autumn foliage.
The safehouse had been abandoned, its tactical maps cleared and armories emptied, replaced instead by a small, secluded stone cottage nestled deep in the pine woods—a place where cell phones didn't ring and the city felt a million miles away.
In the courtyard behind the cottage, a small, intimate gathering of family and friends celebrated under a canopy of twinkling fairy lights and white floral arrangements.
Sophie, glowing with maternal joy and holding a sleeping infant, laughed as Michael kissed the top of her head. Nearby, Barnaby lounged lazily on a vintage rug, entirely unbothered by the festivities.
Lily stood before the stone archway overlooking the valley, wearing a simple, elegant gown of ivory lace. There were no hidden exits calculated, no secret doors watched, no shadows feared. For the first time in her life, she was standing completely still, anchored by the man standing beside her.
Dante wore a crisp black tuxedo, his slate eyes shining with an unconditional devotion that words couldn't capture.
"Do you, Lily, take this man to be your equal, your partner, and your sanctuary through every storm?" the officiant asked gently.
Lily looked into Dante’s eyes, remembering the dark ballroom, the shattered glass, and the cold steel of the Beretta. She remembered what it meant to be broken, and what it meant to be rebuilt.
"I do," Lily said, her voice clear, steady, and ringing with absolute joy.

When Dante slipped the platinum band onto her finger, sealing their vows with a long, tender kiss, the courtyard erupted into warm applause and happy cheers from the people who loved them.
The quiet florist who once hid in corners had stopped running. She had built her life out of something stronger than stone or steel—she had built it out of courage, truth, and a love that could weather any storm.
